Actress Nirisha Basnett, who is currently seen in the show ‘Aashiqana 2’, says she loves being a part of it. The actress says that her character is an integral part of the story and is completely opposite to reality.

“I was introduced in season 2 of ‘Aashiqana’. My role is primary and crucial to the story. My character Jiya is extremely smart and beautiful as well as very mysterious. She is an introvert while I am an extrovert. So It was difficult and challenging for me to play Jiya as it took me some time to get into her character.”

Talking about how she bagged the role, Nirisha says: “I was in Nepal when I was told that I have been shortlisted. I had a strange feeling that I was destined for this role. It was around 10 pm, I immediately booked a flight for 4 pm the same day and flew in for the audition. i was told in my one hour Hearing That I got the role and I cried and thanked my lucky stars.

Nirisha has been a part of TV shows like ‘Ziddi Dil Mane Na’, ‘Chandra Nandini’ and ‘Prithvi Vallabh’.

After doing many TV shows and OTT, the actress shared how she found both the platforms different. “OTT is more planned, prepared, rehearsed and executed. It’s the same with TV, but only in the beginning. After a point, TV eventually runs out of time to do things in detail because they need to present a full episode the next day which is too much pressure.

However, she says that the TV industry has evolved. “It has definitely evolved in terms of technology like the cameras used and pro editing techniques and all. But when it comes to storytelling, execution and actors, I still stand by Kasauti Zindagi Ki, Kyunki Saas Bhi and I love Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ke Din TV shows.”

While she loves action roles, Nirisha also says that at this stage of her career, she is only looking for soulful roles. “Whatever action I get to do, I would love to do. I hope that I will get a chance in films soon. But while I am a martial arts student, I love being a part of OTT and TV as I get to do action roles.

She says that now she wants to take up projects where her character gets prominence.

“I really enjoy when I’m the center of the story. I can’t take secondary characters anymore. I hate every minute of it. So, I aim to do only primary roles and enjoy it. It doesn’t matter whether it is TV or OTT, as long as I get a chance to perform and I am given enough screen space and importance, I enjoy everything.”
