Ever since the third season of Bobby Deol-led Ashram went online, it has been mired in controversy due to various reasons. Helmed by Prakash Jha, the much-loved web show also stars Esha Gupta in other important roles. While Ek Badnaam Ashram Season 3 is getting rave reviews, Bobby Deol has impressed everyone with his performance in the web show. However, soon after the show premiered on the OTT platform, it made headlines for being called an ‘anti-Hindu show’.
For the uninformed, the set of the show was vandalized as the goons thought that Ashram 3 portrays Hindus in a wrong way.
Now after director Prakash Jha, lead actor Bobby Deol has reacted to the controversies surrounding the show. The actor believes that no one can stop people from expressing their opinion.
Talking to SpotboyE, Bobby Deol said, “All I can say is that if the show has run this much then people have seen it. I think always 2 or 3 percent of people will not like the show. Everyone has their own opinion; You can’t stop them from expressing their opinion. But, if you look at the success of the show, it proves that there was nothing wrong with the show.”
Speaking about the success of the show, Bobby Deol further told the portal, “I am really surprised to see such an overwhelming response. I was nervous when I did this role as I have never played a negative character and my image has always been very positive. So, I was a little worried because you know the image gets messed up and you get typecast. Initially, I also thought that my fans would not accept me, but then I have reached a stage in my career where I want to do challenging roles, I want to take roles outside my comfort zone. ,
“When I got such an interesting character, I wanted to do it because I never thought anyone could offer me such a role. The best compliment I ever got was when my mother’s friend called and said that your son has played such a negative role but Phir B Hum Bhoot Pyara Laga Hai.” I am very happy that people have accepted it despite playing such a negative character. I hope to do more different and challenging roles now,” Bobby Deol added.
Ashram 3 is about a mad Baba who believes that he is the god played by Bobby Deol. However, his Hermitage exploits women and trades in drugs. The fourth season of the show is expected to go on floors soon.
