On Friday, June 16, Om Raut’s Adiputush will see Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan as Lord Ram, Janaki and Ravana. As the hype around the film grows as it nears its release date, a new report has emerged about Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan – which will reportedly star Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram alongside Yash as Raavan and Alia Bhatt as Sita.

According to multiple reports today, news first emerged that the upcoming epic would be shelved. Soon after, the makers (producer Madhu Mantena) rubbished reports of the film being shelved, while another report revealed whether Alia Bhatt is indeed on board. Read it all here.

Earlier today, a report in ETimes (via Time Now News) claimed that amidst the substantial buzz for Om Raut’s Adipurush – starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, Nitesh Tiwari has come up with his own version of the epic – It has been decided to keep the title Ramayana with Ranbir. Kapoor is on hold. Reports state that due to a lot of pending work on Bawal, Nitesh Tiwari has decided to put the film on hold for an indefinite period.

The report also suggests that Nitesh will start working on another project after Baval (starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor) considering that he has not yet shared any official statement about Ramayan. Actors like Mahesh Babu, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Yash have reportedly been approached for the film – however, there is no official confirmation about the same.

Hours later, a new report in Pinkvilla stated that Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan with Ranbir Kapoor has not been shelved indefinitely, but will start shooting in December. As per reports, the development of Ramayan is very much on track, and Tiwari is planning to start filming by the end of the year. The site quoted a source as saying, “Over the past few weeks, Ranbir Kapoor He is seen visiting the DNEG office to check the progress of Ramayan. The pre-visualisation of the world is already done and the team is now doing a look test with Ranbir to play the role of Lord Ram. The purpose of this trip was to get the right look for Ranbir as he will step into the phase of physical transformation once he recovers.

Reportedly, the office that both Ranbir and Alia Bhatt have visited – yes, Alia was also spotted here today, is called ‘Ramayan Office’, and includes Nitesh Tiwari, Namit Malhotra, Madhu Mantena and their team is the pre-conception of the entire epic world. The site noted that Ranbir will play the role of Lord Ram, Alia Bhatt has been confirmed as Sita and an official announcement on the same is expected to be made this Diwali.

The source added, “Alia was the first choice for Ramayan, but the dates could not match due to various reasons in those days. But with all the delays, Nitesh and producer Madhu Mantena are back to their first choice, and the actress is excited to play a character that can stick with her for life. Same goes for Ranbir who is all set for this new divine journey of Shri Ram.” The talks are still on to onboard KGF’s Yash as Raavan.

Another report in ETimes has now quoted the film’s producer Madhu Mantena as rubbishing the reports of the film’s indefinite postponement. Revealing that the film is getting very much made, and they are planning to start shooting soon, he said, “Are they mad or what? Who is spreading these rumours? In fact, we are going to start shooting by the end of the year.” Starting shooting in. However, he refrained from sharing details about the cast.
