After the debacle of Bachchan Pandey, Akshay Kumar reached the big screen with the historical drama Samrat Prithviraj. The film, helmed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, hit the screens on June 3. During the first week of its release, the Akshay Kumar starrer was seen struggling to cross the box office half-century at the box office. Soon after its release, the film was declared a flop. The film also starred an ensemble cast like Manushi Chhillar, Sonu Sood, and Sanjay Dutt among many others.

Earlier the director had revealed that Akshay Kumar had already told him that if Emperor Prithviraj When it flopped, he went back to doing Masala Entertainer. This film was made in a budget of around 300 crores but till now it was able to earn only 80 crores.

But looks like the makers of Samrat Prithviraj have blamed Akshay Kumar for the film’s debacle. Filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi, in his recent interview, said that the superstar’s controversies, including his endorsement of Pan Masala, have affected the film’s performance. During his recent interview with Film Companion, Dwivedi said that Akshay’s past behavior and public comments may have turned the audience against him.

Not only this Chandraprakash Dwivedi indirectly indicated that his support of pan masala and controversy resulted in the subsequent defeat of Emperor Prithviraj.

Earlier, Director Chandraprakash Dwivedi Recalls that Akshay told her personally and even in interviews that “I was making Rowdy Rathore and Housefull. These movies pay me more. I made an attempt (along with Emperor Prithviraj). If people reject it, never mind, I’ll go back to Rowdy Rathore. People want to see things that do not cause any controversy. Then that’s what I’ll do.”

We wonder what Akshay Kumar has to say about this?
