Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj is all set to hit the theaters in about 10 days but looks like it might face some opposition soon. Like any historical drama, it is common for religious and cultural groups to take a stand to ensure what the project is talking about and the Karni Sena is doing the same for the YRF production.
While reports had earlier said that the group had objected to the title of the film and demanded that it be changed to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, there has been some new development. According to a recent report, the Rajasthan-based organization is adamant about the title change and also wants the film to be screened before its release.
In a recent interaction with ETimes, Karni Sen’s Surjit Singh Rathore spoke about YRF promising to change the title of the Akshay Kumar starrer to Samrat. Prithviraj Chauhan. He said, “We have met Akshay Vidhan, CEO of Yash Raj Films and he has promised to change the title. They have agreed to honor our demand.”
However, when the portal did its digging about it – and Yash Raj’s reps were not available for comment – an industry source informed them that they are unaware of any new developments surrounding the change in the film’s title. Responding to this, Rathore told the portal, “If they don’t make changes and don’t hold the screening of the film, Prithviraj will not release in Rajasthan.”
Surjit Singh Rathore continued and said in a serious tone, “We have already warned the exhibitors of Rajasthan about this. If the title of the film does not change to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, we will not allow him to show the film in Rajasthan. The site also reported that some of the exhibitors and distributors in Rajasthan have not yet communicated on the status of this title change.
Prithviraj stars, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi Akshay Kumar While in a titular role, Manushi Chhillar made her Hindi film debut as Rajkumari Sanyogita. The historical action drama stars Sanjay Dutt as Kaka Kanha, Sonu Sood as Chand Bardai, Manav Vij as Muhammad Ghori and many more. YRF Production is scheduled for theatrical release on June 3, 2022.
