Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical ‘Cinderella’ Sets June Close In London, Will Be Revamped For Broadway In 2023

Composer and owner of the London Theater Andrew Lloyd Webber (ghost of drama) informed artists and creatives on Sunday that their cinderella The musical will close on June 12 at the Gillian Lynn Theater in Covent Garden, London, after less than a year of trouble.

the show is still on Broadway in 2023. However, Lloyd Webber and his creative team plan to improvise every aspect of the production before it gets there.

cinderella, What opened last July has suffered crippling losses, which is not helped by the delayed opening and a temporary halt in performance last summer. Testing positive for Covid was delayed, as well as when Lloyd Webber and his team remodeled the show. Backstage has also been uneasy with complaints from some artists who felt they were not treated fairly by the management.

The cast was told the closing news before moving on to tonight’s performance.

Management wrote to “Dear Cinderella Family” tonight:

It is with regret that we are writing to inform you that the Really Useful Group production of Cinderella will make its final show at the Gillian Lynn Theater on Sunday, June 12.

As Andrew himself commented on TODAY, Cinderella led the charge for reopening the West End, ensuring that theater and live entertainment remained relevant and in the news. Growing a new show amid COVID has been an incredible challenge, we held the feet of the government in flames during their change of heart during the pandemic…’

As some of you may already know, we have just notified the creative/production teams, cast, crew SND Band and will be releasing a statement soon to the press and social media. Andrew and the teams at RUG and Green Light Stage would like to express our enormous gratitude to everyone involved in the production and to express our deep sorrow about having arrived much earlier than we deserved. The RUG and GLS are also available tomorrow and so forth so that necessary details can be discussed.

Thank you for your incomparable contribution to the show. We should all be very proud of Cinderella and what we’ve achieved together, and we look forward to crossing our paths again before long.
