James Cameron’s Avatar 2 continues to dominate the Indian box office. Despite having multiple releases in theatres, the film is all set to close its third week on a great note. While the collections are aiming for a lifetime plus of 350 crores, the latest we get to know are the numbers coming from Telugu states alone. Keep reading to know more!
before release Avatar: The Way of Water, there were reports that distributors in Telugu states were asked to pay around Rs 100 crore to get the theatrical rights. What happened next of that demand is still not known, but now the actual box office results that are coming are clearly indicating the buzz of the film.
According to TrackTollywood.com, Avatar 2 earned Rs 73 crore from Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) alone till 2 January. If one takes a look at the total Indian collection of the film 336.50 crore nett, the contribution of Telugu states is more than 20%, which is stupendous! Now it is awaited whether the magnum opus touches the century mark in the days to come.
Meanwhile, James Cameron recently revealed that Avatar 2 would have run 10 minutes longer if he had not cut scenes containing gun violence.
“I actually cut about 10 minutes out of the movie targeting the gunplay action,” cameroon Said, as quoted by Variety. “I wanted to get rid of some of the ugliness, to find a balance between light and dark. You definitely have to struggle. Violence and action are the same thing, depending on how you look at it. That’s what every action filmmaker wants.” The dilemma is there, and I am known as an action filmmaker.
