Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been in the production phase for the past few years. Following the untimely demise of Chadwick Boseman, the franchise was faced with a major challenge to tell the story without Black Panther. It looks like the makers of the superhero film are all set to entertain the audience soon as the first looks of Okoye and Shuri have surfaced online, leaving fans craving for more.
The two lead characters, Okoye – Danai Gurira played by The Loyal Guard and Shuri – Black Panther’s sister, played by Letitia Wright from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, were seen on a packaging for a soft drink brand. While Shuri was seen in a purple suit with a new haircut, Okoye was seen maintaining his look from previous Marvel films. While fans remembered Chadwick Boseman, they couldn’t keep clams for the film’s trailer to come.

Last year, the studio’s VP of development Nate Moore told The Ringer-Verse podcast that T’Challa would not be seen in the MCU because Black Panther would never be remade after the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman. “We have to figure out how to move this franchise forward without that character. Because I think we all feel a lot of T’Challa in the MCU on screen … tied to Chadwick’s performance. ‘Black Challenge for ‘Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is telling a story without T’Challa,” he had said.
Chadwick passed away in August 2020 at the age of 43 after a battle with cancer. “When you lose loved ones you have to keep going. I know Chad didn’t want us to stop. He was someone who was all about collectivism. ‘Black Panther’, that was his movie. Him was hired before hiring any actress, before hiring any actress, before anyone else was even thought of to play that role,” filmmaker Ryan Coogler was quoted as saying.
Not much is known about the plot of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but Shuri is expected to play a bigger role after Boseman’s death. Other Black Panther artists include Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba and Angela Bassett.
