When you have a multi-million dollar universe like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s important for producers to maintain consistency and consistency in their projects. Eagle-eyed fans are quick to notice any changes or similarities, and so it was up to the creators of WandaVision when deciding which runs to use in the show.

According to a recent report, the magical race—which played a key role in the final standoff between Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda and Katherine Hahn’s Agatha Harkness and the emergence of the Scarlet Witch—had to change a lot. At one point in time, Chadwick Boseman starrer Black Panther was the cause. Read on to know more.

As reported by The Direct, the upcoming release of the book The Art of WandaVision includes quotes from senior artist Jan Schrimmer—a member of the visual development team—on the changes made to the runs featured in the Disney+ show. According to the article, Schrimmer noted that some early concepts for the runs in the Elizabeth Olsen-Paul Bettany (Vision) show changed because they were more similar to the Wakandan language used in Black Panther.

According to the article, talking about the runes used wandavision“It was a lot of back and forth what kind of runs they wanted,” Srimar said. She continued, “The first symbol I remembered was saying that they sounded a lot like snowflakes. Other concepts he said sounded heavily inspired by Wakandan-style language, That’s why he didn’t choose them. In the end, the final symbols had more of a traditional, witchy look.”

Speaking of the runes used in WandaVision, they played a key role in Wanda absorbing Agatha’s power and ascending to the Scarlet Witch. Runes first came to the fore when Kathryn Hahn’s character used them to take away Wanda’s powers. For those who don’t know, according to the MCU narrative in this show, only the person who races can still use his powers inside himself. In the series finale, Wanda turned the tables while racing inside the Westview area.

Whereas Elizabeth Olsen Wanda aka Scarlet Witch was a hero in her previous MCU appearances, all eyes are now on to see if she is friend or foe in the upcoming movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film is releasing on 6th May.
