‘Bob Fosse’s Dancin’ Returns To Broadway This Spring

Bob Fosse’s Dancin’ will come back Broadway This spring, the original hit left the stage after 41 years of production.

The musical revival will begin previews at The Music Box Theater on Thursday, March 2, 2023, with opening night set for Sunday, March 19. Producer Joy Parnes made the announcement today.

The production will be directed by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento, a cast member of the original Broadway production, and produced in collaboration with Nicole Fosse.

Producers say the new staging will be “completely reimagined for the 21st century.” The revival, he said in the announcement, “comes with a level of warmth, emotion and color rarely seen in modern interpretations of Foss’s influential style and characterized by some of his most inventive and rarely performed choreography.”

The cast will include Yeoman Brown, Peter John Chursin, Dylis Croman, Jovan Dansberry, Carly Dinardo, Tony D’Elio, Aydin Icon, Manuel Herrera, Gabriel Hyman, Colton Krause, Matty Love, Crystal Mackie, Yani Marin, Nando Moreland, Khori . Michelle Petinaud, Ida Psaki, Ron Todorovsky and Neka Zang. Additional casting will be announced later.

“Bob achieved immortality through his work, and I consider it both a responsibility and an honor for his life to pass on his legacy to a new generation,” Silto said. “None of Bob’s shows quite like the fullness of his soul dancin’ And bringing it back in this new way is in a way that I hope to keep that spirit alive.”

Nicole Fosse continued, “My father was always ahead of time with his fingers on the pulse of the current culture. I am extremely proud of this team that will honor his legacy.”

The creative team will also include beautiful designs by Robert Brill; Costume design by Reed Barthelme and Harriet Jung; Lighting Design by David Grill; sound design by Peter Hylensky; video design by Finn Ross; Orchestral, music supervision, vocal and incidental music arrangements by Jim Abbott; music direction by Justin Hornbach; new music and dance arrangements by David Dabon; Reproduction of Fosse’s choreography by Christine Colby Jacques; associate direction/music staging and additional choreographic reconstruction by Corinne McFadden Herrera; Lesson consultation and additional material by Kirsten Childs; and instrumental music staging and additional choreographic reconstruction by Lauren Cannon.

Bob Fosse’s Dancin’ Originally opened on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theater on March 27, 1978, and was later moved to the Ambassador Theatre. The production ran for 1,774 performances and was nominated for seven Tony Awards, winning for Fosse’s choreography.

The new stage most recently played at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego from April 19, 2022 to June 5, 2022.
