Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya accused of sexual harassment and voyeurism by a co-dancer

In a shocking turn of events, a report by Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya has been accused of harassment, voyeurism and stalking. A report in Bombay Times states that recently the Mumbai Police has filed a charge sheet. Ganesh Acharya was accused of the above actions by a fellow choreographer/dancer. The report said that the case was registered in 2020. The investigating police officer of Oshiwara station, Sandeep Shinde, revealed that the charge sheet has been filed by the Metropolitan Magistrate in Andheri. Acharya along with his assistant under sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-C (voyeurism), 354-D (chasing), 509 (insulting any woman), 323 (causing hurt), 504 is charged. (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (general intent to commit offence) of the Indian Penal Code. Ganesh Acharya is known for songs like Bidi Jalail, Chikni Chameli, Malhari and others. The 35-year-old assistant revealed that he was informed about the filing of the chargesheet. Back when the case was registered against Acharya in 2020, he had denied all the allegations. After the FIR was registered, his legal team filed a defamation suit against him. The report said that the complainant alleged that Ganesh Acharya was harassing her ever since she refused to have sex. Also, he said that he would make lewd comments and show her p*rn. In May 2019, the complainant revealed that Acharya had asked her to have sex with him. When she refused it resulted in the termination of her membership in the Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association. She also said that Acharya’s assistants assaulted her when she rejected his advice. She said, “The women assistants beat me up, abused and defame me after which I went to the police which refused to register the complaint and registered only a non-cognizable case.
