this weekend, it’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania Which led the show at the box office. The film opened to a good opening on Friday with Rs. 8.25 crore* and though the jump on Saturday and Sunday was not huge, the fact remains that the viewership remained consistent and ensured that the overall weekend total was pretty decent. The film collected Rs. 27 crores* and though Rs. 30 crore would have been a better ring to it, the fact that a Marvel film with a less popular central character has made it this far is also cool.
The film will continue to be the highest grosser on weekdays as well, in spite of the fact that the word of mouth buzz is average and won’t really take long for it. Nevertheless, since it is playing on premium properties with high priced tickets, it will have an advantage over the rest even with limited footfall. On the other hand, Shehzada Like Friday, Saturday and Sunday followed the same pattern, due to which despite the increase in numbers, it did not quite get the huge momentum it was looking for. The film stands at Rs. 20.20 crores.
Meanwhile, there is one film which is doing well till date Pathan, Due to the competition from new releases, the film is now running on lesser screens and shows as compared to last week. That said, the showcasing was better on Saturday and Sunday as the screens and shows were increased compared to Friday. As a result, more than 10 crores came in this weekend as well, which took the total to Rs. 516 crores*. The collections have now surpassed the Hindi version Baahubali: The Conclusion [Rs. 511 crores], However, in this around Rs. 18 crore worth south versions as well and hence it is only a matter of time before the Hindi version also crosses Rs. 511 crores and has emerged as the biggest ever in this language.
*Estimate. last number awaited
