He suggested that the show continue – just without him.
“I ask all of you who are part of our loyal audience to stay loyal,” Williams said on the show. ,11th hour Produced by the best team in cable news will remain in good hands.”
Williams has not said what his next move would be, but announced earlier on Tuesday evening that he would be leaving the network after his contract expires in December.
He rounds up comments from the show below:
“Before I go tonight, as the old song says, ‘We have a thing going on.’ Think about it. We’ve been meeting this way at the same time, in the same place for an awfully long time, give or take five years. Next year is my 40th year in business. The earth was still cold, actually. , when I started out as a reporter. And so that got me thinking and it inspired me to write something that we made public earlier tonight. And if you missed it or demanded a dramatic reading of, so here it is, and it reads like this:
“After much thought and 28 years with the company, I have made the decision to leave NBC upon completion of my current contract in December. I am truly blessed. I have been allowed to spend almost half my life with one company. NBC is a part of me and always will be. Twenty-eight years, 38 countries, eight Olympic Games, seven presidential elections, half a dozen presidents, some wars and one SNL, NBC had a considerable supply of good friends. I was lucky that everyone I worked with made me better at my job. I have the best coworkers imaginable. This also includes big bosses. I was on air for the launch of MSNBC. My return after years was my choice. as it was launching 11th hour I’m equally proud of the decade I anchored night news,
“I wanted it to be called 11th hour Because it was late in the 2016 campaign at the time, and I wanted it to air at 11AM Eastern Time. I ask all of you who are part of our loyal audience, to remain loyal. 11th hour Produced by the best team in cable news will remain in good hands. Special thanks to our guests 11th hour. The journalists who broadcast to us are our stars and in this age the stars have Pulitzers.
“It’s the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. There are so many things I want to do and I’ll pop up somewhere again. For the next few months. I’ll be with my family, the people I love the most.” I love the people who help my career progress. I will reflect on the kindness people have shown me and I will pay it back. That’s it. And we’re here for a few more weeks See you like this. And the good news is you have to keep watching. Like I said 11th hour Much larger than any one man or woman. The truth is, our secret has always been, it’s always been about our guests. It will never change.”
