The trailer of the fifth film in the hugely popular CBI franchise ‘CBI 5 – The Brain’ starring Malayalam superstar Mammootty in the lead has garnered over 2.4 million views within a day of its release on YouTube.
Like all previous films in the franchise, it Malayalam The film is also being directed by K Madhu and will feature Mammootty as the legendary Sethuram Iyer, a CBI officer.
The trailer begins with a woman filing a missing complaint about her brother. Soon, deaths happen and the police have an incredible job of finding out if there is a link between the deaths.
The corrupt police have added to the problem and it has not taken long to summon the CBI. How the very popular Sethuram Iyer of CBI unearths a conspiracy and unearths its connection to what is known as the ‘Basket Killing’ is what the film is all about.
The film, which is slated to release worldwide on May 1, has been approved by the Censor Board for release with a U/A certificate.
The story of this investigative thriller is written by SN Swamy, who has also written the stories of the other four. Malayalam Movies in the franchise named ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’, ‘Jagrut’, ‘Sethuram Iyer CBI’ and ‘Nerarian CBI’.
Apart from Mammootty, the film will also feature Asha Sharath, Renji Panicker and Mukesh. It has music by Jake Bejoy and cinematography by Akhil George.
