Katputli movie review: Positive

The suspense thriller lives up to what it should be, ensuring that neither the pace nor the tension subsides for a moment. Akshay Kumar Not only does he return with a quality film for the whole family after not enjoying the best of times with his previous three releases, but he is also a timely reminder of his talent when given a writer-backed role. Technical features elevate the script, the location and camerawork play a big part in the right atmosphere, while the editing keeps you on your feet as an audience. Yes, Katputli is an adaptation of the Tamil cult hit, Ratnasan, but an adaptation should be exactly that – maintaining the essence of the original while making its way up. Akshay got enough support Rakul Preet Singh, Chandrachur Singh And Sargun Mehta All perform efficiently on screen. Katputli Movie Review: Negative

The few downsides here are that the movies could have been shorter and the suspense, while great, seems a step down from Ratnasan, provided you’ve seen the original film.

BL verdict

All things considered, Katputli is a welcome return for Akshay Kumar both as a film and when it comes to his own performance. In fact, it should have hit the big screen this year on either of his three earlier releases. I’m going with 3.5 out of 5 stars.
