Ajay Devgn’s thriller Drishyam 2 has registered the second biggest gross of the year for an outright Hindi film. The film has earned an advance of Rs 500 crore on the opening day. 6.50 crore nett, which means, even before the start of the first show, the film has collected Rs. have collected. 6.50 cr on first day out of total advance approx. Rs 2.80 crore has come from three national chains – PVR, Inox and Cinepolis.
Drishyam 2 registered a better growth than films like RRR (Hindi), 83 (Hindi), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Hindi) and registered huge numbers on the first day at the box office. While a Rs. Till the beginning of this week 15 crore opening was a distant dream, now this number looks achievable as Drishyam 2 might emerge as the biggest surprise of this season.
The trailer did wonders for the film and the strong recall value of the franchise has helped to see huge anticipation among the audience. Vijay Salgaonkar and his story have become popular among the metro audience and Drishyam is proving to be a huge brand in the top 8 cities, which is also reflected in the advance booking numbers.
The initial talks of Drishyam 2 are positive and hence, we also expect a good jump in viewership for the film over the weekend. A Rs. A weekend of 50 crores seems to be on the cards for Ajay Devgan’s film.
