Eileen Saki Dies: M*A*S*H Actor Who Played Rosie Was 79

Saki, whose real name was Minako Borgen, brought life to Rosie in the war comedy-drama series. Rosie was the owner and proprietor of “Rosie’s Bar”, the local off-base watering hole for GIs, especially for personnel assigned to the 4077th.

Co-star Jeff Maxwell shared a message on social media after learning of Saki’s loss.

On behalf of her husband, Bob, we extend our sincere appreciation to the hundreds of M*A*S*H Fans filled Eileen’s final days with peace, encouragement and love. Starring Alan Alda, Wayne Rogers, Loretta Swit and McLean Stevenson, the dramedy based on Robert Altman’s 1970 feature was not an immediate hit, failing to make the top 25 of that season’s primetime programs. But its fortunes soon changed, and M*A*S*H It will have a Top 10 program for each of its final 10 seasons.

Saki appeared in nine episodes. M*A*S*H where she played the character of Rosie, who is the third actress to play the role and the longest serving character.
