Can be happy Arjun Kapoor his Ek Villain Returns first made it to its top-5 opening days and then remained steady enough to score in the same way over the weekend. The contest was from Mubarakan which surprisingly didn’t do well in theaters five years back 22.91 crore, However, Ek Villain Returns has managed to overtake it and as a result remains in the top-5 weekends for Arjun Kapoor.
That said, at one point it looked like the film would drop Ki & Ka and take itself to No. that movie weekend 26.23 crore And if Ek Villain Returns had grown on Saturday, leaving the Balki-directed film behind was a possibility. However, surprisingly the Mohit Suri directorial grew only marginally on Saturday and this is when the hopes of the film making it to No. It said it could easily fall to No. 6. Mubarakan May have been left behind. However, this did not happen due to Sunday’s growth of the latest film directed by Mohit Suri, as a result of which it retained its place in the top-5 weekend.
It has to be seen whether the film maintains its lead and remains in the top-5 Week One the same way as it did for Arjun Kapoor. If that really happens it could enjoy a fairly long run as there is no new competition in the coming week, something that will allow it to be a reasonable commercial success.
Here’s a look at the top 5 weekends of Arjun Kapoor’s films:
goons – 43.41 crore
2 states – 37.62 crore
half girlfriend- 32.04 crore
Ki and Ka – 25.23 crore
Ek Villain Returns – 23.54 crore
