Hislop appeared on-air during pre-game coverage of a friendly match between Real Madrid and AC Milan. The analyst joined co-host Dan Thomas during the live segment before he began to stumble and lose his balance. Hislop fell forward and fell up to Thomas.
Thomas is heard shouting Hislop̵7;s name and saying “we need some help” before running to help the former goalkeeper after he collapses on the ground.
Thomas later updated fans on Twitter, saying, “Shaka is conscious. The doctors are taking care of him.”
At halftime, Thomas was seen on the screen informing the audience about Hislop’s condition.
“He is conscious that he is talking. I think he’s a little embarrassed about it all, he says he’s apologized profusely – he’s not the kind of guy who likes people making a fuss about him,'” Thomas said on-air. “Obviously, it is too early to make any sort of diagnosis but the important thing is Shaka is conscious. And we talked to his family as well, because you imagine that this happens live, there can’t be more things that can scare you among the family.’
Thomas said he spoke to Hislop’s wife and said, “Things are looking up.”
