Actor-comedian Abhilash Thapliyal has been making waves in the OTT world in recent years. His performance as Shwetaketu aka SK in TVF’s web series Aspirants was highly appreciated by the audience. In fact, after the success of Aspirants, he also led a spin-off series for his character titled SK Sir’s Class. in a recent conversation bollywood ruckusAbhilash told about the same and recalled that he was skeptical and scared.

Abhilash insisted, “I come from a lower-middle-class family. We have a lot of self-doubt. We are not convinced, and it was the same with SK Sir’s class. When we were shooting for Aspirants, I was very apprehensive about my part as a lot of actors in the series were from the TVF universe. They were all familiar faces.”
The actor and comedian further added, “When I became a part of it, my first thought was negative. I asked myself what if the audience doesn’t accept me? We would never think otherwise. Given that Aspirants was a hit, I was skeptical. I thought, “What if the audience doesn’t understand SK sir’s universe?”
Thapliyal further added, “But I was pleasantly surprised that people started comparing it to Aspirants. They gave us the same amount of love. I was lucky that my character SK Sir turned out to be the first TVF character to spin-off.
As Abhilash has also featured in several films, we asked him to tell us how the preparation process for a film and a web show is different. In response, he said, ‘I don’t think there is any process. In fact, I think if I was doing TV I would have acted the same way. You cannot differentiate between preparation for a film and an OTT project. As an actor, you want to tell a story, and do justice to your character, no matter what platform it is being created for. He concluded by saying, “I think it (differentiating between platforms) will corrupt an actor’s effort if they perform while thinking about the platform on which it will be released.”
On the professional front, he will be next seen in Kennedy, The Anurag Kashyap-directed film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival before its release later this year. It stars Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat in lead roles.
