Season 20 winner of the reality show “Worst Cooks in America” Ariel Robinson is expected to stand trial on May 9 for her alleged role in the January 14, 2021 death of Victoria “Tori” Smith.
As a preface, her husband, jerry robinson, was convicted earlier this month in the death of the couple’s three-year-old adopted daughter Victoria Smith. After the verdict of Ariel Robinson’s case, he will be sentenced. He is expected to testify at trial.
The child died after allegedly being beaten up by Ariel Robinson at the couple’s home in Simpsonville, South Carolina, according to prosecutors.
New details about the investigation into the young child’s death emerged during Jerry Robinson’s hearing earlier this month.
Jerry Robinson pleaded guilty to murder by child abuse/aiding by child abuse and abetment to murder. He will remain under house arrest until the trial of Ariel Robinson. Jerry Robinson said he never physically hurt the child, but told investigators that Ariel would hit the child with various objects, including a belt.
Jerry Robinson told investigators that the final beating occurred shortly after Victoria Smith was thrown on her way to church. The next morning, the young girl was punished for not eating her pancakes fast enough. That’s when the assault allegedly by Ariel Robinson happened.
Jerry Robinson told court that his wife, Ariel, “whooping” Smith with a belt, noting that the beating was heard from outside their home. Prosecutors said Jerry Robinson testified that when he returned, he saw Ariel standing on top of the belt clad with, “You don’t have to tell me when you’re done.”
