Gloria Gaynor Doc: David Zieff & Pippa Lambert Board Betsy Schechter-Directed Film

Storyville Entertainment, the production company behind the doc founded by Betsy Schechter, has brought on board editor David Ziff, who worked on the seminal rock doc. Metallica: Some kind of monsterand producer Pippa Lambert, as it heads toward the finish line.

The Doctor sees how Gaynor, who, despite incredible hardship, has used his musical talents to change the course of his life, caused by illness, paralysis, the murder of his sister, 25 years of painful marriage (and divorce) and a clean -smooth- out of bank account. She rebuilt her life at age 69 by earning a psychology degree and investing her own resources to self-produce gospel record testimony—which won Gaynor her second Grammy, 40 years after her first.

It will trace the five-year period it took to record the album and feature her personal collection of archival photographs and footage to help track key moments in her life, including never-before-seen Gloria on the road. Contains Super 8mm footage. 1972-1976.

Ziff, who most recently worked on Matthew Heinemann’s Nat Geo Doc first waveWill edit the document now.

He is joined by Hellcat founder Pippa Lambert, who is working closely with Schechter in the final stages of the documentary’s completion.

Schechter and Gaynor are executive producers, with Schechter also directing.
