Google’s Covid Outbreak Is Currently The Largest Of Any Employer In Los Angeles

Number of Covid infections in the Los Angeles-area Google Employees nearly doubled over the weekend, according to the count at the county’s official COVID workplace outbreak site.

Friday, Deadline informed of That Tech Giant’s Stylish silicone beach on campus Venice 145 infections were recorded. This morning, the LA County Public Health Dashboard showed 135 new cases at the company’s massive playa vista Complex. (There were another 15 infections listed on Friday for the Venice campus that no longer appear.)

Combined, those 280 transitions are the largest current number for any employer in the county.

There are 274 TSA employees listed infected at LAX. Similarly 234 American Airlines employees. However, those entities are not only consumer-facing, but are also likely to be dealing with the most foot traffic in the county.

Google has 2,000 employees in Los Angeles Reporting Last year by the Los Angeles Business Journal. If this is true, it would mean that 14% of the company’s workforce has been affected recently.

Specifically, the County Outbreak Dashboard lists Google’s “Hercules Campus at Playa Vista – Spruce Goose Hangar.” shiny revamped Howard Hughes’ version of the old facility, which the company moved to in 2018.

It is difficult to know the status of the outbreak on Google. Deadline reached out to the tech giant and will add any comments received. There may be a lag between infection, detection, reporting, and when the county dashboard finally shows that count, but the LADPH site is updated daily and did not list the Hercules Campus outbreak on Friday.
