Marvel Studios has hit the target with ‘Hockey’. The miniseries – which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar Wednesday, follows the story of Clint Barton as he teams up with his biggest fan and mentor, Kate Bishop, to tackle criminals in New York City after the blip.

The series that follows the events of “Avengers: Endgame” borrows heavily from Matt Fraction and David Aja’s comic run Hawkeye.

The starcast and creators of the series shared their experiences from the recent shoot and their preferences regarding their characters and the show. Jeremy Renner, who reprises the titular role, praised his co-star Hailee Steinfeld in the series and was impressed with his preparations.

Jeremy Renner said, “She came very dressed, she was ready. While it’s pretty awesome. (However) it’s sad that it makes me feel old that I see so many people come and go. As many people go (in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), I’m like a grandpa (laughs).

For Hailee SteinfeldHawkeye, which plays Kate Bishop, is very special because it allowed her to be a part of the MCU. Responding to what was attracted towards this character, the actress said, “I really felt like playing this character, it compelled me to find a confidence, a determination and discipline, which has always been my passion. It’s been in, but I really had to. Take it out on myself and do justice to this character. I feel so lucky to play a character that so many people love.”

Hawkeye’s story revolves around the holidays, when questioned about the reason behind such a creative choice, director Rice Thomas said, “A character like Clint is just trying to live his life. And having trouble finding him. I think it’s a trope. Setting it up at Christmas time makes family time clash with business time, a classic combo. ,

Explaining the reason behind saying ‘yes’ to her character in the series, Vera Farmiga, who plays Kate’s mother in Hawkeye, said, “A few things, number one, I love archery, I’m an archer. You guys are mine. Don’t know about this, my first job I played an archer with Heath Ledger in a series called ‘Roar’ where I had a bow and arrow and I had a 40 lb pull-weight arrow. So if I used that bow and arrow Wasn’t going to run, so I just wanted to be next to someone with true patience.”

Clint Barton not only works closely with Kate but also guides her through the show’s journey.

Commenting on the patron implied in Barton, Kevin Feige, President Marvel Studios said, “The character’s history is vast. Within all of Jeremy’s appearances there are moments where you see this mentor beneath the surface. Reluctant hero, reluctant master.”

“One of my favorite scenes in all of our movies is the scene with Clint and Wanda in Sokovia, when he basically says, ‘You go out that door, you’re the avenger’ and get into a fight. Inspire. And that was how we can relate our MCU incarnation of Clint Barton to the Matt Fraction storyline and relationship with Kate Bishop,” he said.

Hawkeye, directed by Rhys Thomas and Burt & Bertie, is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
