IMAX & Pathe Live Partner To Bring French Band Indochine To Cinemas This Fall

Specific: imax and Pathé Live have forged a new partnership to bring the French pop-rock band Indochine This fall on IMAX screens. On Saturday 25 June, the sold-out Indochine-Central Tour concert at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, France, will be shot with 22 IMAX-certified cameras. It will be the first concert released through the Filmed for IMAX Camera program when the rollout begins in France and select markets on 23 November. It will then screen for one evening only in non-IMAX cinemas the next day. IMAX currently has 17 theaters across France.

Outside France, the concert will run in Belgium, Switzerland and other select markets, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Indochine was formed in 1981 in Paris. It succeeded Francophony in the 80s, in Europe and Latin America with songs such as “L’Aventurier” and “Canary Bay”. The band has sold over 13 million albums and singles, making it the best-selling French band of all time.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Indochine, the Central Tour has sold over 400,000 tickets to its six stadium shows. It was launched on 21 May at the Stade de France in front of 97,036 fans – a record-breaking attendance at all events held at the prestigious stadium (sports and concerts combined). Live shows feature a 147-foot-high central tower and the largest specially designed LED screen used in live concerts (27,000 square feet/1,400 LED panels).

The concert film is directed by Hans Pannekouke, produced by KMS, Sony Music and JYL Productions and distributed exclusively to theaters by Pathé Live.

Megan Colligan, President of IMAX Entertainment, said, “IMAX remains a global destination for fandoms of all kinds, and Indochine is a perfect example of how we are creating unique and immersive entertainment shows on the international stage.” “We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Indochine during their sold-out Central Tour, and to be able to give our legions of loyal fans an unforgettable experience.”

Pathé Live is extremely excited and proud to bring this spectacular show by one of the most popular and acclaimed French bands to our exhibiting partners and cinema audiences. This is the first ever filmed for IMAX concert that will provide fans with the most immersive and matchless experience only in a movie theater,” said Thierry Fontaine, President of Pathé Live. So grateful to be working with Sony Music and the band.”

Tickets for the Indochine IMAX preview on 23 November go on sale on 4 July, and tickets for the main release (24 November) go on sale on 7 July.
