    Is clashing at the box office amid Covid restrictions a good idea? Trade expert answers [Exclusive]

    From 22nd October, we will see the reopening of cinemas in the state of Maharashtra and while many filmmakers have skipped the release dates of their big films, we will also see several box office clashes at the ticket windows. Though this clash may turn out to be a feast for the cine-lovers, it will affect the business of films. Salman Khan And Ayush Sharma‘Anti’ is all set to clash with John Abraham’s Satyamev Jayate 2 on November 26, while on the other side we will see Prabhas’s Radhe Shyam, Mahesh Babuthat the government would receive and Pawan KalyanThe Bhimla Nayakas clashed with each other.     To know about this difficult situation, we got in touch with trade expert Amul Mohan and asked him if it is a good idea to struggle at the box office amid covid, to which he replied, “The thing now is that a lot. There are all the movies which are pending for release because everyone is under pressure to put it out now. Pandemic has affected the industry and this is the fact that we can’t hide behind it anymore. They (producers and distributors) overcome the struggle. but saying that there is a lot of content ready now 2 years and only 52 weeks. So how many movies are going to be released in 52 fridays? You can’t have only 52 releases?     When asked if 50 per cent of the audience in Maharashtra would have an impact on the box office collections of big-ticket films, he replied, “Yes it is true but I think everyone knows all the parameters. So, those scenarios” We know that Maharashtra has 50 per cent occupancy, Delhi 100 per cent occupancy. Many single screens and theaters have shut down in the last one and a half years due to the pandemic. So, it is not that everyone is not aware of the situation.
