Actor Jagapathi Babu has come forward to help a rag picker’s daughter fulfill her dream of becoming an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
Impressed by Aripina Jayalakshmi’s story of determination and struggle, the actor has assured financial help for her coaching for the Civil Services Examination.
After watching a story about Jayalakshmi on a leading Telugu television channel, jagapati Babu’s mother suggested him to help the girl. Jagapathi Babu not only met Jayalakshmi but also assured her to help her prepare for the exam.
Jayalakshmi’s parents collect garbage from the houses. The family lives in the Singareni Colony slum in Saidabad area of Hyderabad. Jayalakshmi, a degree student, has been raising the issues of slums by organizing meetings under the aegis of children’s “parliament”.
He previously served as the “Prime Minister of the City Level Children’s Parliament” and took up serious issues such as hunger. Now working as the “Prime Minister of the World Children’s Parliament”, she discusses issues of their communities in online mode with representatives from different countries.
He received the Changemaker Award 2022. Dr. Andrew Fleming, who until recently served as the British Deputy High Commissioner in Hyderabad, Tweeted Last month that she was one of the most inspiring people I have met in Hyderabad during the last five years.
“She changed everything in the room in 2018 when at an event she announced her intention to become an IAS officer,” Fleming wrote and prayed for Jayalakshmi’s success, calling her a true changemaker full of kindness and good intentions.
