Jersey Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor’s film fails to beat Yash’s KGF 2 second Friday collection

The Hindi remake of Jersey released on April 22, 2022. Shahid Kapoor Arjun, who replaced Nani, plays the title role of Talwar. Jersey has been made on a very tight budget. The film seems to have already recovered its investment through its digital and satellite rights. Now everything is like a bonus. Jersey has been super slow on day one. The film earned Rs 4 crore on the first day. This is less than the second Friday collection of Yash and Sanjay DuttKGF 2. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, it has earned Rs 11.56 crore. According to Box Office India, Shahid Kapoor and Mrinal ThakurKey Jersey has earned a net of around Rs 3.75 to 4 crores. The collections did not increase in the evening like it did with Yash’s KGF 2. There was a very slight increase in numbers. The films which have got big openings after the pandemic are all big budget like sooryavanshi, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bachchan Pandey, KGF 2, Pushpa to name a few. The only medium budget that did reasonably well was Antiem – The Final Truth. It earned Rs 4.75 crore at the box office. Jersey is getting good reviews, especially the lead man Shahid Kapoor. Many believe it to be the best performance of his career. After moving the date from Christmas 2021, the makers had planned to release it on digital. But Shahid Kapoor wanted Jersey to hit the theatres. He said that if the overhead cost of the film increases, then he has made a cut. Let us see if the good word of mouth translates into more footfall for Shahid Kapoor’s jersey.
