Joe Biden Makes It Official: He’s Running For Reelection; Jeffrey Katzenberg Among National Campaign Co-Chairs

Joe Biden Officially announced on Tuesday that he is running for re-election.

The announcement came in a three-minute launch video.

“When I ran for president four years ago, I said we were in a fight for the soul of America. And we still are,” says Biden. “The question we face is whether we will have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or less in the years to come. I know the answer I want, and I think you do too.” This is not the time to be complacent. That’s why I am contesting again.”

The video, which comes four years after Biden announced his 2020 bid, begins with images from the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Biden then appears on screen and says, “Liberty – personal liberty is fundamental to who we are as Americans. It has been my job in my first term. To fight for our democracy.”

The video also features a slogan – “Let’s finish the job” – while it features several shots of the president alongside Vice President Kamala Harris as well as the Biden Harris logo.

Biden’s plans include massive fundraising in anticipation of an expensive campaign. This will include reaching out to small and high dollar donors. Jeffrey Katzenberg, who has long been a top Democratic fundraiser, was named one of the national co-chairs, along with Rep. Lisa Blunt-Rochester, Rep. Jim Clyburn, Sen. Chris Coons, Sen. Tammy Duckworth, Rep. Veronica Escobar. Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez will serve as campaign manager and Quentin Fulks Pradhan will be the Deputy Campaign Manager.

Biden’s campaign is expected to counter concerns over his age, 80, and overturning polls showing a majority he may not want to run for again.

Biden’s approval numbers are still underwater, with the White House emphasizing Biden’s record and achievements in the first two years of the term. It looks like the campaign is preparing for the possibility of a rematch. Donald Trump, currently leading in the GOP polls. Even if it isn’t Trump, the Biden campaign will likely seek to brand his rival as an extremist, emphasizing the GOP’s far-right shift and stance on issues such as abortion and guns .

“Across the country, MAGA extremists are ready to curtail those base freedoms,” Biden said alongside images of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Trump and Ron DeSantis.

“They’re cutting Social Security that you’ve paid for your whole life, while cutting taxes for the very wealthy. They’re dictating what healthcare decisions people can make,” Banned Books And telling people who they can love, all the while making it even harder for you to vote.

Biden faces two unorthodox rivals for the Democratic nomination: self-help guru Marianne Williamson and anti-vaccination movement leader Robert Kennedy Jr.

more to come.
