Joe Biden Names Taraji P. Henson To Historically Black Colleges and Universities Advisory Board

Taraji P. Henson He was among those appointed to the President’s advisory board on historically black colleges and universities.

NBA star Chris Paul was also named on the board.

According to the White House, board members work to “enhance the ability of HBCUs to provide the highest quality education to their students and to continue to serve as engines of opportunity.” Biden announces the establishment of HBCU initiative last year.

Biden appointed Tony Allen and Glenda Glover as chairman and vice president of the board, and in February named Dietra Trent as executive directors.

Others named on the board include Makola M. Abdullah, Javane Adams-Gaston, Paige Blake, Tsunda Brown Duckett, Willie A Deez, Patrick Cockley, Monica Goldson, Brett J. Hart, Beverly W Hogan, Lisa P. Jackson, Chevrin. D. Jones, Walter M. Kimbrough, William FL Moses, Christopher E. Paul, Quinton T. Ross Jr., Ruth J. Simmons and Janine Uzel.

Empire series star Henson started the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in 2018. It offers scholarships to African-American students majoring in mental health. It also provides mental health services in urban schools, and works to reduce recurrence rates.
