In 2017, when the news of the abduction and sexual abuse of Malayalam actress came to light, everyone was shocked. Later, when Pulsar Suni’s name surfaced, the matter became more complicated and her name was associated with Malayalam star Dileep. After a lengthy investigation, Dileep was arrested and later released on bail. Actress Bhavna never spoke publicly about the entire incident and how it affected her life. The entire incident was filmed to blackmail him. In her latest interview with Barkha Dutt, Bhavna talks about the attack and how she journeyed from a victim to a survivor.
Bhavna said that the whole incident changed her life overnight. She said that she was constantly on the lookout for answers or someone whom she could hold responsible for what happened. She kept wondering why people made her their target. Actually, there were rumors that Bhavna told Manju Warrier about Dileep’s alleged affair with Kavya Madhavan, which led to the incident. She said the trial started in 2020 when she was questioned in court for 15 days. Bhawna told Barkha Dutt, “When my trial began, I had to go to court for 15 days. It was a completely different, dramatic experience. On the 15th day of the trial, I came out of the court like a living person. ” She says that by the end of the trial, she felt like a survivor, not a victim. He told Barkha Dutt, “I stand not only for myself, but also for the dignity of all the girls who come after me. At that point my mind convinced me that I am not a victim but a survivor.” The actress also talked about the general victim-shaming that follows such incidents. It seems that many blamed him for traveling in such a late night, and some even said that the whole incident was fake, and was orchestrated by him.
Bhavna says such comments devastated her. She told Barkha Dutt, “When I was trying to pick up the pieces, trying to stand up and face life again, things like this were pulling me down. It was aching and painful.” She revealed that it had become difficult for her to work in the Malayalam film industry. She has said that Aashiq Abu, Prithviraj, Jayasuriya and others offered her support. She says that she was not in the right mind to work in the same industry and used to pretend like nothing had happened.
She said that things were still tough emotionally and she wanted to give up at times. Bhavna said, “It makes me very angry and very sad. It is not every day that I am empowered and ready to fight. I wanted to give up at times.”
