Young producer Aruna Guhan, who is one of the creative directors of AVM Productions, one of the oldest and most respected production houses in the Tamil film industry, has revealed how superstar Rajinikanth’s superhit film Manithan is a part of the hugely popular ‘Manithan’. Taking to Instagram, the young producer, who has got used to sharing trivia about blockbusters produced by his firm, said: “How the song ‘Manithan Manithan’ became the title song!”
“A Day, Shane Sir was taking a bath in one of our studio rooms. He heard the song ‘Manithan Manithan’ for audio cassette from the room of SP Muthuraman sir nearby.
“When he came out (of the shower) he praised the song, but SPM sir explained that he didn’t add it in the film as he didn’t find a suitable scene to use it.
“Rajinikanth sir immediately replied: ‘What is this sir? How can we miss a song with such beautiful lyrics?’ Thatha (Grandfather) and SPM sir agreed to him and decided to add the song to the film.
“Rajni sir said he wanted to lip sync himself for this song, so he finally made it the title song,” he said and also posted a clip of the song.
Manithan released on 21 October 1987 was directed by SP Muthuraman. Tamil language masala film starred RajinikanthRupini and Raghuvaran, Senthil, Delhi with Ganesh and Srividya.
