McAvoy is leaving his role as Head of Factual with the Scotland-based indie producer after three and a half years, and Two Rivers confirmed his exit in a statement this afternoon. The exec said he is “soon to have another adventure and will be able to announce more in the next few days.”
“Mick is leaving Two Rivers after three-and-a-half years as head of Factual as he seeks to make more insightful documentaries,” said Two Rivers founder and managing director Alan Clements.

McAvoy left STV Productions in 2019 to join Launch to River with Clements and produce The Choice kill escobarWhich told the story of a Scottish mercenary who was hired to murder a Colombian drug lord and was broadcast on BBC in 2021. It was a co-production with Salon Pictures.
