Tollywood star N. Balakrishna, popularly known as NBK, on Thursday denied making derogatory remarks about veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
Stating that he has great respect for Rao, the actor-politician said that he deliberately did not use any words while referring to the late actor.
Meeting the success of his latest release”Veera Simha ReddyBalakrishna’s remarks about Nageswara Rao had created a controversy.
Talking about his father, the late former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and founder of the Telugu Desam Party, NT Rama Rao, Balakrishna was dismissive, saying: “Some of my father’s contemporaries were Ranga Rao (SV Ranga Rao), Akkineni , Thokkineni and a few others.”
Nageswara Rao’s grandson, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and his brother Akhil Akkineni – posted a statement on Twitter in response to Balakrishna’s remarks.
He said: “The creative contributions of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Garu, Akkineni Nageswara Rao Garu and SV Ranga Rao Garu have been the pride and pillar of Telugu cinema. To disrespect them is to let yourself down.”
Along with Rao’s family’s reaction to the actor’s remarks, NBK has come out with a clarification. He claimed that the late actor loved him more than his own children and that he too used to address him as uncle.
