Mumbai, November 18, 2022: Unveiling a parallel story spanning two crucial timelines in Punjab that shapes the fate of one man and his family – Gurnam Singh, Netflix launched the trailer of its upcoming action packed crime thriller CAT. Produced by filmmaker Balwinder Singh Janjua and directed by the versatile and dynamic Randeep Hooda, CAT goes beyond the romanticized version of Punjab and presents an authentic tale of a brother’s love, forgiveness and espionage. Available in Punjabi, Hindi and English, produced by Movie Tunnel Productions in association with Jelly Bean Entertainment, CAT is set to release on 9th December only on Netflix.
CAT brings to the fore the story of Gurnam Singh, who is forced to become a police informer once again, despite assuming a new identity and moving on in life. While Gurnam is not new to this, the stakes are higher this time. In order to secure his brother’s future, he finds himself caught in the crossfire of politics, corruption and crime in order to bust a flourishing drug cartel. Are they being used for personal gain in the process? Caught in the crosshairs of betrayal and deceit, will this game of cat and mouse take her down the rabbit hole?
Speaking about his directorial foray, producer Balwinder Singh Janjua said, “Cat is a very unique story and I am glad we could collaborate with Netflix to bring this story to life. As a writer and director, I would define Kat as a story of relationships – be it family, friendship or betrayal! The story is set in Punjab and explores the underbelly and its complexities across two timelines through well-defined characters. We have shot in over 80 locations across Punjab to bring out the authenticity and flavour. Working on Kat has been a rewarding journey and I can’t wait for the audience to experience it.”
