The ‘Variety’ editor responsible for making Hollywood Bible predictions for the Oscars and Emmys has great news for the makers of ‘RRR’.
If Clayton Davis had the deciding vote at the Academy, ‘RRR’ would be a close runner-up to Lucas Ghont’s 2022 Cannes Grand Prix-winning coming-of-age film ‘Close’ in the Best Picture and International Feature categories. (Though for the latter, it is not India’s official entry).
And if Davis was the God of All Things at the Academy, composer MM Keeravani, along with playback singers Sudala Ashok Teja and Kaal Bhairav, would come home with an Oscar for ‘Komuram Bheemudo’, fending off a challenge from ‘Naatu Naatu’. ,
The director of the period drama, SS Rajamouli, is in the running for Best Director, but in a field topped by Todd Field, the director of the highly anticipated film, ‘Tar’, he gets an honorable mention.
There is also an honorable mention for ‘RRR’ star Jr NTR for Best Actor in a Leading Role, where favorite is ‘Elvis’ star, Austin Butler, followed by Brendan Fraser (‘The Whale’). Jr NTR is in the esteemed company of Will Smith (“Emancipation”), Hugh Jackman (“Sun”) and Bill Nighy (“Living”) who also received an honorable mention.
Vijayendra Prasad, ‘RRR’ screenwriter, is in yet another list of honorable mentions for the original screenplay; Sabu Cyril for production design and A Sreekar Prasad for film editing.

One win, three runner-up trophies, three on the shortlist and four honorable mentions – mighty impressive!
