Paula Malcomson Joins Giancarlo Esposito In AMC’s ‘The Driver’

Specific: Paula Malcomson (redemption) is set as a series regular opposite Giancarlo Esposito Driver, AMCIt is a remake of the British drama series.

The American series comes from producers Danny Brocklehurst and Sunu Gonera and showrunner Theo Travers. It stars Esposito as a taxi driver whose life is turned upside down when he agrees to a New Orleans-based Zimbabwean gangster notorious for exploiting undocumented immigrants at America’s southern ports.

Malcolmson will play the role of Ross.

The 2014 British series similarly followed star David Morrissey as Cabbie, whose life is turned upside down when he agrees to be a driver for a criminal gang.

The AMC series was created by Brocklehurst, who created the original with Jim Poisser, and Sunu Gonera, who directed FX’s Snowfall and Class of ’09. Gonera will direct the pilot episode, while Billion and House of Lies writer Travers will serve as showrunner.

Esposito, Gonera, Brockleyhurst, Morrissey and Travers will executive produce with Thruline’s Josh Kesselman and Danny Sherman, and A+E Studios’ Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson. The six-part series is produced by AMC Studios in association with A+E Studios and Thruline Entertainment. It is set to launch on AMC and AMC+ next year.

Malcolmson was most recently seen in Sean Cook’s ITV Limited Series redemption and Emmy nominated Deadwood: The Movie on HBO. Also on the film side, she recently appeared in we’ve always been in the castle And battlecreek, among others. He has been replicated in the UK by ICM and United Agents.
