Netflix has been in the news for the last few days for some wrong reasons. The OTT platform has been in the news due to the cutbacks that have been happening following the stock drop following a drop in subscribers. Now, according to a report in Deadline, amid the cuts, the streaming giant has dropped Meghan Markle’s animated series, Pearl. The series was to be produced by Meghan and her husband Prince HarryCompany of Archwell Productions. Meghan was thought to be an executive producer of the show, along with David Furnish.
Pearl revolves around a 12-year-old girl who gets inspiration from various influential women in history. Talking about the series, Meghan had earlier said, “Like many girls of her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges. I am thrilled Archwell Productions, the powerhouse platform of Netflix and partnering with these incredible producers, will bring you this new animated series that celebrates extraordinary women throughout history. David Furnish and I bring this special series to light. Curious, and I’m glad we’re able to announce it today.
Earlier, Netflix had also decided not to go ahead with two animated kids series Dino Daycare and Boons & Curses. A few days back, BollywoodLife exclusively reported that in India too, Netflix is planning to take a new route and is now looking to try a new, more commercial approach to its content. A source had also told us that the second season of Delhi Crime is witnessing some changes. Well, now let’s see what content Netflix will offer.
