“As you may have heard, CNN has parted ways with Don Lemon,” Harlow said, as she read the official statement announcing CNN CEO Chris Licht’s exit.
Collins said, “Don was a big part of the show over the past six months. He was one of the first CNN anchors to have me on their show. It’s something I’ll obviously never forget.”
Harlow said. Don was one of my first friends at CNN. I am extremely grateful to have worked with him and for his support here for almost 15 years, and I wish him the best of luck in the future. Catalan and I are really proud of this show. We’re very proud of the dedicated team that works 24/7 to bring you news every morning, and our priority is you, the viewers, who welcome us into your home every morning.
The show opened with a different logo, featuring only Collins and Harlow’s names.
The network dismissed Lemon after Monday’s show, in what he described as termination. “It is clear that there are some big issues at play,” he wrote. He said he was “stunned” by the news and had been informed by his agent. “I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me straight,” he said.
“CNN and Don have parted ways. Don will always be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years,” the network said in a statement Monday. We wish him well and Will continue to encourage them in their future endeavours.”
The network said that Lemon’s statement was “false”. “He was offered an opportunity to meet with management, but instead released a statement on Twitter,” the network said.
CNN has not said whether it will name a successor to Lemon as co-host of the morning show.
