Pune Police has issued a lookout circular against KP Gosavi, who was one of the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) independent witnesses in the cruise ship drugs seizure case. An official said on Wednesday that this was in connection with the 2018 fraud case registered here. Lookout circular is a notice that prohibits a person from leaving the country.
Pune Police Commissioner, Amitabh Gupta said that they have issued a lookout circular notice against KP Gosavi, who is absconding in the cheating case registered against him at Farsakhana police station in 2018.
For the uninformed, Gosavi was one of nine witnesses in the cruise ship raid and alleged seizure of drugs in which Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested earlier this month. According to the police, Gosavi was booked for allegedly duping a Pune-based man on the pretext of offering him a job in Malaysia.
Chinmoy Deshmukh, who was allegedly duped of Rs 3.09 lakh by Gosavi, had filed a complaint against him. The complaint said that Deshmukh had contacted Gosavi, who had put up an advertisement on social media about certain vacancies in a hotel industry in Malaysia.
An official of Faraskhana police station said that while promising a job in Malaysia, Gosavi collectively took Rs 3.09 lakh from him in installments but neither offered him a job nor returned his money.
In 2018, a complaint was filed against Gosavi under various IPC sections including 420 (cheating), and related sections of the Information Technology Act.
