‘Queer Eye’ Guys Say Breakout Moment From Austin Season Was “An Example Of Trans & Queer Joy” – Contenders TV: Docs + Unscripted

Key Cast queer eye Can’t speak enough about Angel Flores.

When the Fab 5 Went to Austin for Season 6 Netflix series, he introduced Flores, a 22-year-old powerlifter and weightlifting coach who is trans. Her episode titled “Angel Gets Her Wings” included the expected makeovers but with a few unexpected surprises.

“The episode of Angel is so important,” said Jonathan Van NessoJoe was joined by his co-stars at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted event Karamo Brown, antoine porowski, Tan France And Bobby Burko, “It was an example of trans and queer joy that is unrequited. We rarely see trans women of color, truly win over and see their family accept them and be fully integrated and loved in their community. It is often about struggle or difficulty.

“I think seeing such an example of unrequited, quirky joy is so moving for queer people and LGBTQI+ people. Angel is such an incredible person and I am just so honored that we had to be able to tell her story.”

Artists are usually sent to cities where they look like fish out of water, but that never actually happens, France says.

“It doesn’t really matter where we go. I think the beauty of our shows, especially the Japanese season [in 2019]It resonates with people globally,” he said. “I’m not trying to grow myself up, but I think it’s been incredibly difficult to do. The fact that we’ve done it for six seasons and one Japanese season shows that it’s not going to be a big deal.” It doesn’t matter where we are in the world. We can encourage people to be kinder to each other. I think that says a lot for the work we do.”
