It has been more than a few months since RRR released, but the buzz around the film is not fading. Not only the Indian but also the western audience is showing support for the film, with even top filmmakers loving SS Rajamouli’s direction. On the other hand, there were reports that claimed that the period drama might have a chance to win an Oscar and even Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap thinks the same. In a recent interaction, the director of Dobara spoke about the film down south and how it has captured the world which makes it eligible to win an Academy Award.
In the film, Ram Charan plays the role of a real-life Indian revolutionary, Alluri Sitarama Raju, while Jr NTR plays the role of Komaram Bheem. The film explores his fight against the British Raj. Apart from him, the film also stars Ajay Devgn, Alia BhattShriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris are in the lead roles.
Anurag Kashyap is currently on a promotional spree for his upcoming release Dobara, a mystery drama thriller that draws inspiration from the Spanish film Mirage. Talking about Indian cinema, the filmmaker talked about the craze for RRR in western countries. The director said the film has a huge chance of being nominated for an Oscar this year. Speaking with Galata Plus, he said, “West sees RRR differently from what we see, and they have loved RRR. If RRR gets India’s pick, 99% will make it to the Academy Awards. Might be nominated. That’s the impact of RRR on the Hollywood world.”
“India can actually nominate in the final 5 if RRR is the film they choose. I’m talking about what people are reaching out to me and talking about in the west. He also talked about the intense choreography in Naatu Natu and said, “They are blown away by the dance sequence as well. And the dance sequence, which I think is one of the most energetic choreography I’ve done in a long time. And it did. Hit them so hard, they’re loving it.RRR has become the go-to Thin layer in the United States.”
Not only Anurag Kashyap, but Variety has now listed Jr NTR as a possible contender for the Oscar in the Best Actor category. He has listed RRR in the Best Picture category along with SS Rajamouli for Best Director.
