Saif Ali Khan Once Revealed Getting As Much Pocket Money As “The Guy Next Door” & Nawab Being A Movie Tag Only

Saif Ali Khan – the man who has given us some memorable characters like Omkara’s Langda Tyagi, Dil Chahta Hai’s Sameer, Parineeta Shekha, Kal Ho Naa Ho’s Rohit and more, turns 52 today. Yes, as the father of four celebrates his birthday and to wish him a very special day, we decided to go back in time and bring an excerpt from him talking about his growing up years.

During a previous conversation, the Cocktail actor opened up about Pataudi and former India captain Mansoor Ali Khan, despite being the eldest child – and only son. Actress Sharmila Tagore, her upbringing was quite normal. In fact, while he called it privileged, he also said that it was at times similar to that of any boy of his age. Read on to know everything he said.

During a 2017 conversation with Asian Age, Saif Ali Khan opened up about his relatively humble childhood and revealed that it was no different from others his age. The Omkara actor said, “Surely my upbringing was a privileged one, but as far as money is concerned, my parents never gave me any pocket money…at least more than the boy next door No. I had a normal upbringing, and there are no nawabs (royals); it’s a tag in films.”

Continuing further, Saif Ali Khan said, “My father (Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi) was the last Nawab (royal). And even he did not think of himself as one. The image is not because I am one. I’m a nawab (royal), but because I enjoy the lifestyle of a movie star. Sometimes you can’t beat your image, and that’s okay. That’s okay. If the image were true, it would be my Nothing would happen.”

Talking about the actor’s family, the eldest child of actors Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi has two younger sisters- jewelery designer Saba Ali Khan and actor Soha Ali Khan. He has four children, daughter Sara Ali Khan and son Ibrahim Ali Khan with ex-wife Amrita Singh and sons Taimur and Jahangir with wife Kareena Kapoor Khan.

On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will soon be seen in Om Raut’s Aadipurush. Starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, the film is scheduled to release in theaters on January 12, 2023. He will also be seen in Pushkar-Gayatri’s Vikram Vedha co-starring Hrithik Roshan and Radhika Apte. The film will be released theatrically worldwide on September 20, 2022.
