More than two and a half years after Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal is back with Sardar Udham, a patriotic film. While the former included a lot of action, this is a dramatic affair in which the action is also integrated into the narrative. Shoojit Sircar had shot for the film sometime back and had put the release on hold so that it could hit the theatres. However, when the second wave arrived, the rights were sold to Amazon Prime. It is a different matter that theaters have started opening and hence it would have been nice to see the film on the big screen if the deal had not been done already.
The filmmakers had earlier made Madras Cafe John abraham And that film was of the same genre, stage and set up. A certain class factor is seen in his films and hence something good is expected from Sardar Udham as well.
On Independence Day weekend came Shershaah which was a patriotic film which also featured a young protagonist/character and set a benchmark for films belonging to this genre. Now it has to be seen whether Sardar Udham also gets into the same mode and finds traction among the audience.
It is a huge Dussehra weekend, which means there is a huge number of visitors ready to welcome movies Which are coming together, which includes Taapsee Pannu’s Rashmi Rocket and Vidyut Jamwal’s Sunak – Hope Under Siege. In a game of digital eyeballs and numbers, it will be interesting to see how this production by Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri pans out.
