Saudi Arabia’s Film AlUla Announces Start Of Construction Of First Phase Of Studio Complex

Saudi Arab‘s Film Al-UlaThe Film Agency of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has announced the start of construction of the first phase of its new ambitious studio complex.

The first phase will cover approximately 330,000 sq ft and is scheduled to be operational for the fourth quarter of 2023.

The complex will feature two world-class soundstages, production support buildings, workshops, a pyro/SFX building, catering facilities and admin buildings, as well as a 6,500 square meter backlot and a sound recording studio. The complex will also be near 12 square kilometers of dedicated outdoor shooting locations, showcasing the ethereal beauty and ancient heritage of AlUla.

Located in northwestern Saudi Arabia, AlUla is home to two mountain ranges, three volcanoes and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra.

The area is at the center of the country’s efforts to attract local and international productions to shoot in the area, combined with cashback discounts of up to 40% for both international and local productions.

The studio complex will diversify AlUla’s economy, in line with RCU’s objectives, as we build a home to nurture Saudi talent in the screen sector for generations to come.

Film Al-Ula revealed that it had engaged US-based live-experience company Tait to ensure that the production experience at Al-Ula would be completely immersive and comfortable, including during the summer months. .

The studio complex will be 14 minutes from the Film AlUla Residence, which has 300 rooms, restaurants, entertainment facilities and office space for industry professionals, and 20 minutes from the AlUla International Airport, which recently opened its doors to private A hangar has been opened for jets. Details of phase two will be announced in the second quarter of 2023.
