SC slams Ekta Kapoor for ‘polluting minds of young generation’ with her XXX web series

A bench of Justice Ajay Rastogi and Justice CT Ravikumar said, “Something has to be done. You are corrupting the mind of the young generation of this country. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Ekta Kapoor, expressed satisfaction that a similar petition was filed before the Patna High Court and the apex court had earlier provided protection to Kapoor. After this he said that the adult content in the web series on the OTT platform is subscription based. The bench said that it does not appreciate that every time, a petition is filed before the apex court and said that a cost would be levied for filing such a petition. It asked Rohatgi to convey this to his client and emphasized that the apex court works for those who do not have a voice.

The top court was hearing a plea against the arrest warrant issued by Kapoor against him for allegedly insulting soldiers and hurting the sentiments of their families in a web series on his OTT platform Alt Balaji. “We have seen the order and we have our objection,” the bench said.

The top court has also kept the matter pending before it and recommended that a local lawyer should be appointed to inform about the status of the hearing in the high court.

A trial court in Bihar’s Begusarai had issued the warrant on a 2020 complaint filed by Shambhu Kumar, an ex-serviceman, who alleged that XXX (Season-2) had several objectionable scenes in relation to the constable’s wife.
