Rajkumar Hirani is undoubtedly the greatest director of Indian cinema, who has won the hearts of audiences time and again with classics in the social comedy arena. His next film is Danki starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role and it is one of the most awaited films of 2023. The film is set to release on December 22, 2023. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan have signed the biggest post-theatrical digital deal with Jio Cinemas.

According to a source close to the development, the digital rights of Danki have been sold to Jio Cinemas for Rs 155 crore. “This is the biggest deal in the history of Indian cinema for a single language film. It has a lot to do with the coming together of Rajkumar Hirani’s brand and Shah Rukh Khan’s brand. Two of India’s biggest global icons in one Coming together to make a film that is expected to create a global impact has resulted in the biggest post-theatrical deal ever,” the source told Bollywood Hungama.
With Danky, the idea is to take the Jio Cinema platform global and the team is also working on an interface to make the app available globally to compete with Netflix. The source further told Bollywood Hungama, “Rs 155 crore is a huge amount, but the SRK x Hirani combo is worth it and more. The amount Danky got is more than what Jawan got for the Hindi version of Netflix.”
The film also stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. It is scheduled to release on the big screens on December 22, 2023. Danky is a co-production of Red Chillies Entertainment along with Rajkumar Hirani Films.
