Recalling working under the direction of Sooraj Bharjatya, Kapoor claimed that he was completely clueless about the world the filmmaker was trying to create.

Shahid Kapoor confessed that he was “not getting half of what was happening” in marriage; Says, “I was a big city kid”
During a conversation with Radio Nasha, Shahid said, “Half the time I used to think ‘what am I doing? What is happening? What’s going on?” He continued, “I was a big city kid. I didn’t understand half of the things that were happening. I was like jal (water)? What is this? And then we would sing were being sung in an old man’s voice. I was thinking how am I going to do this?”
Kapoor continued to share, “I just followed it. I said, ‘You tell me what to do and I’ll do it.’ He (Sooraj Barjatya) used to tell me ‘trust me Shahid, just do it’ and I did. I did it with all my sincerity.
Shahid reminisces about the release Marriage in 2006, saying, “A lot of cinema that was doing well was front-footed college, youth, religion and Yash Raj, which was doing really well. That turned completely upside down.” He acknowledged that Sooraj had “made a very stereotypical film about a very core audience in our country that hadn’t been addressed for a long time, and he knew it was their comfort zone.”
Kapoor said, “That was his playground. He went back to his playground and said, ‘This is what I’m going to do,’ and he made it perfectly. They didn’t put any tropes in there that could be commercial or that were working at the time.
On the professional front, Shahid is currently awaiting the release of his next film, bloody daddy, Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, it is slated to release on JioCinema on June 9.
