Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has taken everyone by surprise with its opening at the box office. Carrying forward the goodwill of the first part, the film has posted decent numbers across the board in the domestic market. While a good performance was always expected, the start has been really impressive as it has exceeded all expectations. In fact, it’s the third best opening of all time behind a Spider-Man movie Spider-Man: No Way Home ($121.9 million) and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 ($59.8 million),
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been shelved, reports Deadline $51.7 million 1st day (including Thursday previews) at the domestic box office. With this it has surpassed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3‘S $48.1 million and The Super Mario Bros. Movie $31.7 million (Wednesday) to mark the biggest opening day of 2023.
Speaking of animated movies, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has the third best opening behind Incredibles 2 ($71.2 million) and string finding ($54.7 million),
The film was predicted to score in the range $80-$90 million Range during the opening weekend, but now it is expected to earn well beyond this $110 million, It’s a big difference and it will be interesting to see how far it goes till Sunday.
