Superman: The son of Kal-El colorist Gabe Altayb has said he is not renewing his contract with DC Comics after Man of Steel’s exit as a bisexual.
“I am terminating my contract with DC. I’m tired of this s**t,” Eltab said during a recent podcast hosted by Cyberfrog creator Ethan Van Sciver, a former contracted DC employee, according to Bounding Into Comics.
Gabe Altayeb continued: “I’m tired of ruining these characters; they don’t have the right to do that.”
As aceshowbiz.com reports, Gabe Eltaib in particular noticed the Superman logo change.
“What really pissed me off was telling the truth, justice and a better world,” he said.
He said: “F*** that it was truth, justice, and the American way. My grandfather was almost dead in World War II; we don’t have the right to destroy the s**t that people died to give it. Bullshit is a bunch of crap.”
The colorist insisted that there was no place for a conservative like him in the company.
Gabe Altayeb said: “They call us bigoted and racist and s**t, I’ll ask them, find me in the f***ing mainstream, not on the edge, a f***ing book, a f***ing *in t-shirts, a movie that says the left is bad, and conservatism is good, find it for me, they won’t f****, they won’t let people have a voice, they’re f***big People.”
“Sorry,” said Eltaeb after reprimanding, “it’s been bottled for five years.”
Regarding Altayb’s appearance on his show, Van Sciver said: “Gabe exploded on my livestream, he had a lot to say, a lot of emotions and a lot of thoughts that he couldn’t share because he was on DC Comics. were working for.”
He then corroborated Gabe Altayeb’s claims, saying: “And this is the reality. You can’t come out and be conservative and criticize the company you work for in this way. You don’t have to be corporate.” Have to fully support the agenda, whatever it may be.”
“You have to keep your negative or critical opinion to yourself, and it’s pretty much free to not work for DC Comics and be able to say exactly what you think,” he said. “And I think Gabe is passing through here.”
DC Comics recently announced that Superman’s new slogan no longer refers to the hero fighting for “Truth, Justice and the American Way”, but now stands for “Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow”.
DC’s Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee explained during the company’s virtual DC Fandome event, “To better reflect the story we’re telling at DC and to explore Superman’s incredible 80 years of building a better world.” To honor the legacy, Superman’s motto is evolving.”
In addition to the slogan change, it was revealed earlier this month that Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s son John Kent will be revealed to be bisexual in an upcoming issue.
